Baseball Can't Hang on Late in One Run Loss, 11-10
Lake Myrtle, Fl – The Cougars designated hitter Zackary Costello continues to swing a hot stick connecting on two solo shots for FCC, but it wasn't enough as the Cougars fell to ASA College 11-10. The Cougars were leading 10-8 heading into the 9th inning, however, ASA put a three spot on the board. FCC threatened in their last at-bats, but the Avengers were able to close out the game. The Cougars sit at 6-4 overall on the young season.
The Cougars registered eleven hits in the loss with right fielder Dylan Gitierrez leading the way with three hits while teammate Mark Martinez had two hits, drove in three runs, and walked three times on the day. Logan Appel continues to find his way on base going 1-for-3 along with three free passes. Appel is sporting a .689 on base percentage along with a .517 batting average on the year.
Brian Rourke started on the bump for FCC and gave up four earned runs in three innings of work. Vincent Lodati pitched the final 2.1 innings and suffered the loss dropping his record to 1-1.
