
Baseball Lets Lead Slip Away In 9-5 Loss To Hawks
Frederick, Md. - The FCC baseball team let one slip away Tuesday afternoon in conference action, relinquishing an early 5-2 lead and ultimately falling 9-5 to Hagerstown Community College. The Cougars took a slim 5-4 lead heading into the ninth inning as the Hawks would plate five in their final at-bats. With the loss FCC is 24-13 overall including 7-7 in conference and 6-2 in Region XX D2 Division play. The Cougars will hit the road on Thursday (4/14) afternoon to take on the Skipjacks of Chesapeake College in a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 2:00 PM.
FCC's starting pitcher Carson Bach was looking to make it five in a row as he toed the rubber to battle the Hawks. Bach would pitch seven innings striking out 10 batters in the outing. He earned a no-decision in the contest and now has 77 strikeouts in 49 innings. Dylan Gutierrez was hit with the loss and falls to 2-2 on the season.
FCC swith-hitting centerfielder Jett Manning went 2-for-3 (2B, 3B, .368 BA) on the day knocking in three runs. Teammate CJ Mackinson also chipped in with two hits for the Cougars.
