Rourke Wins Pitching Duel In Game One; Harju and Lackey Go Deep In Game Two To Complete Sweep

FREDERICK, Md. -- Frederick Community College Cougars swept Cecil College on Saturday afternoon by the scores of 3-1 and 9-3. FCC starting pitchers Brian Rourke and Colby Rudis continue to turn in dominating performances on the hill. The Cougars received a boost from Brady Harju and Brayden Lackey in game two. Harju and Lackey were clutch as each deposited baseballs over the fence!

  • What a pitching duel in game one! The Seahawks held a slim 1-0 lead heading into the bottom of the 6th. FCC would score three runs off Cecil starter Heibert Romero and hold on in the 7th to secure the victory.
  • From the first pitch, FCC starting pitcher Brian Rourke was zoned-in! Rourke gave up just one run in the top of the 3rd on his way to his sixth victory of the season.  Rourke tossed a complete game, scattering nine hits while recording seven punchouts.
  • Nick Fuhrmann, Alex Aristy, Ryan Capstick, and Eric Dressler came up big in the sixth inning to rally the Cougars to the W!

  • The Cougars fell behind 3-0 after three innings and would score a pair in the 4th inning off a Brayden Lackey opposite field home run. As they did in game one, FCC would explode for six runs in the sixth inning to secure the sweep over the Seahawks.
  • Colby Rudis turned in another solid outing on the mound for the Cougars. Rudis tossed six innings and fanned eight batters to lock up his fifth victory of the season.
  • Freshman third baseman Brady Harju came up big offensively and defensively. Harju absolutely crushed his third homer on the year. He knew it was gone right when it left the bat!
