Foster throws no-hitter, but FCC loses 1-0

AUBURNDALE, Fl. – After a four hour extra-inning marathon game on Wednesday night, FCC returned to the field to take on Kishwaukee College in the nightcap. Let's just say this game was completely opposite of the first meeting. What took place in the second game of the doubleheader is so rare, producers in Hollywood couldn't write this up for an Oscar.
Safe to say one of the most difficult feats in all of sports is for a pitcher to toss a no-hitter. Patrick Foster for FCC did just that in a heartbreaking 1-0 loss. The freshman starting pitcher threw a no-hitter against Kishwaukee College on Wednesday night. He fanned 13 batters in seven innings of work. According to MLB.com, in the major leagues this is such a rare feat. Only five times in modern Major League history (since 1900), has a team held its opponent hitless, but lost the game. Kishwaukee College plated one run in the bottom of the first. FCC falls to 6-3 on the season.
At the plate: FCC was led by first baseman Brady Harju who smacked a pair of singles. Harju is off to a solid sophomore campaign for the Cougars. He is hitting .310 on the year with two homers.
On the mound: A 'tip of the hat' to freshman starting pitcher Patrick Foster. He pitched seven innings of no-hit baseball and struck out 13 batters. That is a dominating performance on the hill and difficult to give him a loss for this outing. He falls to 1-1 on the season. He gave up just three walks. That is one gutsy performance! Congrats Patrick Foster!
On Deck: At Webber International University JV on 3/8/18. First pitch is set for 6:00 P.M.
