FCC Drop Conference Opener to Hawks

FREDERICK, Md. - The Frederick Community College baseball team dropped its conference opener against Hagerstown Community College 10-6 on Thursday afternoon. With the loss, FCC falls to 7-7 (0-1 MD JUCO) on the season. The Hawks improve to 9-4 (1-0 MD JUCO) overall.

FCC came out of the gates and posted four runs in the first frame. The Cougars led 4-1 after one inning of play. However, the Hawks would not go away quietly, tying the game up at six in the top of the seventh. HCC would tack on four runs in the final two innings to seal the victory. The Cougar defense committed three miscues.

ON THE MOUND: FCC pitchers walked a total of ten batters in the loss. Antonio Bianchini (5.2 IP, 4 ER, 7 BB, 6 Ks) started for FCC and was relieved by Sean Clark. Clark (2.1 IP, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 Ks) was hit with the loss and falls to 0-1 on the season.

AT THE PLATE: The Cougars tallied 11 hits on the afternoon. First baseman Brady Harju (3-for-4, 2B, 2 R, 1 RBI) led FCC with three hits. Hayden Kissel and Eric Naylor each had two hits. Logan Appel and Mitchell Long hit frozen ropes to the gap that resulted in a triple for each.

UP NEXT: FCC will hit the road on Saturday (3/17) to take on CCBC Dundalk for a doubleheader. First pitch is set for noon! FCC's next seven games will be on the road.
