FREDERICK, Md. - In a low-scoring affair, the Frederick Community College baseball team came out on the wrong end of a 3-2 decision in the final game of the three game series with Hudson Valley Community College. With the loss, FCC falls to 11-10 on the season. The Cougars will return to the diamond on Thursday afternoon when they travel to take on Hagerstown CC in a MD JUCO matchup. First pitch is slated for 3:00 P.M.
Not ideal playing conditions today as the Cougars battled the Vikings in a morning baseball game. Both teams would plate single runs in the first and third innings. Heading into the top of the seventh, tied at 2, the Vikings pushed over the go-ahead run to secure the 3-2 victory.
Give credit to FCC starting pitcher Antonio Bianchini for battling a slick ball and tough weather conditions. The crafty lefty tossed five innings, striking out seven batters in a no-decision. He was relieved by Sean Clark who suffers the loss. Clark drops to 0-2 on the season.
FCC leadoff hitter Jared Pine continues to dazzle at the top of the order. The speedy lefty punched out three hits on Wednesday. He went 3-for-4 and scored two runs and is batting .384 on the season. He leads FCC with 28 hits on the year. Thomas Gonzalez recorded a couple of hits in the loss.
