Baseball Drops High-Scoring Affair At Montgomery
GERMANTOWN, MD – Winners of seven straight, the FCC baseball team hit the road for a MD JUCO matchup against Montgomery College on Tuesday afternoon. In the end, the Raptors would defeat the Cougars by the score of 12-11 in a wild baseball game.
The Cougars slugged 15 hits on the afternoon. Mitchell Long continues to 'swing it' and put up solid numbers in his freshman season. The lefty went 3-for-4 (2 2B) on the day and scored four runs. He is hitting .343 on the year. Jared Pine (.382 BA), Hayden Kissel (3B, .344 BA), and Eric Naylor (.398 BA) did damage at the top of the order for the Cougars. The trio went a combined 6-for-13 on the day. Teammate Brandon Austin had himself a day at the dish. He went 2-for-4 (2 2B) and registered four RBIs.
This is a tough loss for the Cougars. The FCC gave up ten runs in the final three innings. Teagan Staver is hit with the loss and falls to 1-2 on the season. FCC pitching staff gave up 11 earned runs and walked nine batters in the loss.
FCC will return to the diamond on Thursday for a crucial Region XX D2 matchup against the Hawks from College of Southern Maryland. First pitch at FCC is set for 1:00 P.M.
