Baseball Dominates In Sweep Over CSM
FREDERICK, Md. – The Frederick Community College baseball team played host to the Hawks from College of Southern Maryland on Thursday afternoon. The Cougars made it a clean sweep over the Hawks by the scores of 8-2 and 17-3 (5 innings). The Cougars improve to 21-11 overall and more importantly sit a perfect 6-0 in Region XX D2 play.
Game One
FCC starting pitcher Nick Pantos gave up two runs in the first inning and the hard-throwing righty settled in turning in a spectacular performance. Pantos went 6.2 innings to earn his sixth victory of the season on the hill. He gave up two runs while punching out nine batters in the victory. Logan Bruckschen came out of the bullpen to record the final out of the game.
FCC shortstop Jared Pine is having a remarkable freshman season. The speedy leadoff hitter continues to set the table for the heart of the order. He was perfect at the plate going 4-for-4 in the victory. He smacked two doubles and scored two runs. Pine is batting .404 on the year and has an astounding .465 on base percentage.
Eric Naylor and Brandon Austin each had two hits and knocked in two runs. Both Austin and Naylor had quality at-bats in the bottom of the fifth when the Cougars scored five runs. The big blow came off the bat of Naylor as he singled through the left side of the infield scoring two runs. Mitchell Long launched a triple in the right field corner as the Cougars registered 10 hits in the victory.
Game Two
The Cougars pounded out 13 hits in the victory and made quick work of the Hawks in game two. Keagan McGinnis got the nod on the mound for FCC and he was stellar in his outing. He tossed four innings and gave up just one hit and one earned run. He struck out eight batters and improves to 4-1 on the hill.
Eric Naylor put on a hitting clinic in the victory. He ripped the cover off the ball to all parts of the field as he went 3-for-4 and tallied six RBI's. He tripled and record two doubles in the victory. Naylor is hitting .415 on the season and is on a tear! Hayden Kissel (2 RBIs, 3 R), Brady Harju (3 R), Dillon Cooperrider, and Mitchell Long (3B, 3 R, 2 RBIs) each had two hits.

FCC will return to the diamond on Tuesday (4/17/18) when they host Garrett College. First pitch on the nine inning game is set for 3:00 P.M.
