Austin and Harju leave the yard, McGinnis dominates on the hill
ARNOLD, Md. – The Pride of Battlefield High School (Haymarket, VA) was on full display in FCC's 6-2 victory over Anne Arundel in game two of the doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. Battlefield HS baseball produces some studs! Brandon Austin, Brady Harju, and Keagan McGinnis came up big to make it a clean sweep over the Riverhawks, 6-2. FCC remains a perfect 8-0 in Region XX D2 play.
Keagan McGinnis found himself in a little jam in the first frame, but the hard-throwing righty got out of it and tossed five innings of no-hit baseball. He was lifted in the bottom of the sixth after giving up a leadoff double. McGinnis gave up just one hit and picked up his fifth win of the season. He struck out six batters and gave up four walks. Sean Clark and Brayden Coe came in relief to hold the win for McGinnis.
Brady Harju (.358 BA) and Brandon Austin each hit tape-measure blasts to lead the FCC offense. Harju went 2-for-3 (HR, 3 RBIs) and Austin went 1-for-3 (HR, 2 RBIs) in the win. Harju and Austin both have three dingers on the year. Eric Naylor had a nice day at the dish and had a pair of knocks. Naylor is batting a cool .413 on the year. Mitch Long hit his fourth triple of the year and continues to tear the cover off the ball.
Up Next: FCC will host Montgomery College on Tuesday (4/24) for a nine inning game. First pitch is set for 3:00 P.M.
