FCC baseball sweeps CCBC Essex to stay perfect in Region XX D2 play
FREDERICK, Md. – A beautiful day at the ballpark in a number of ways as FCC remains perfect in Region XX D2 action by sweeping the Knights from CCBC Essex by the scores of 7-3 and 8-0. With the two wins, FCC extends their winning streak to four games and sports an overall record of 25-13 (11-4 MD JUCO).
GAME ONE
FCC had to come from behind in this game and total props to starting pitcher Antonio Bianchini. He found himself in a jam early as the visiting Knights' put a three-spot on the board in the first frame. FCC would strike back in the fifth inning by putting five runs of their own on the scoreboard. The highlight of the inning was a moonshot by Eric Naylor. He absolutely tattooed a ball to the trees in centerfield. It brought back a flashback when former FCC slugger Chris Mattison deposited a homer to send FCC to the World Series in 2015.
Bianchini tossed a complete game and is 3-2 on the season. The gutsy lefty surrendered four hits and gave up three earned runs. At the dish, Jared Pine and Hayden Kissel continue to do damage at the top of the order. Pine punched two doubles in the victory and knocked in three runs. Kissel was a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate and had two RBI's.
GAME TWO
FCC starting pitcher Sean Clark set the tone early as he toed the rubber. He gave up just three hits over four innings to pick up his first win of the season. Give credit to the FCC relievers James Beasley, Teagan Staver, and Brayden Coe to secure the shutout.
Jared Pine (.392 BA) picked up where he left off from the first game as he went 2-for-4 (2B) in the victory. Eric Naylor (.414 BA) went 2-for-3 (2B) and knocked in three runs.
