Jamison, Cougars Defeat Mustangs For 30th Win
FREDERICK, MD.- The #7 Frederick Community College Cougars hosted Stevenson University JV on Thursday for a single game. The Cougars pounded out 15 hits in the game to take the contest by the score of 19-2. It is the sixth straight victory for FCC as they sit at 30-5 overall on the season. FCC will travel to Shenandoah University on Friday afternoon for a doubleheader. The first pitch is set to cross home plate at 3:30 PM.
The Cougars jumped on the Mustangs early in this game. FCC put up eight runs in the first frame and batted around the order in doing so as they lit up the scoreboard. Demetri Jamison set the tone as the leadoff hitter crushed a triple in his first at-bat. In his next at-bat in the bottom of the first, Jamison mashed a double to the gap. DJ would finish the game with four hits and four RBIs. He is squaring up the baseball and has been on a tear. DJ is riding an 11-game hitting streak and is solidifying the leadoff spot for the Cougars. He is batting .380 on the year, including 14 two-baggers which leads the team.
The other big blow of the game came off the bat of Brodey Neveker (.392 BA). The left fielder crushed a no-doubter out of the yard for his seven homer of the season. Along with Jamison, Neveker is also sporting a significant hitting streak. Brodey has hit safely in his last 14 games.
Justin Acal (.414 BA) had a nice day at the dish as he tallied three hits in five trips to the dish. Teammate Wyatt Miles had some quality at-bats in the win and recorded a pair of doubles.
Brendan Long came out of the bullpen to pick up the win. Mr. Utility Brendan Long improves to 3-0 on the season. Long lowers his ERA to just 1.84 on the year.
