MD JUCO Announces 2022 Baseball All-Conference Teams
BALTIMORE, MD. - The Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (Maryland JUCO) today announced its 20022 All-Maryland baseball teams and other award recipients. A total of five student-athletes from Frederick Community College were named to the prestigious list.
Danny Leo, Pitcher, 1st Team
Leo turned in a stellar season on the mound for FCC. The Francis Marion University commit finished the season with an overall record of 8-1. He pitched 67.1 innings on the season and struck out 79 batters. He finished with an ERA of 3.88
Brodey Neveker, OF, 1st Team
Neveker played in 43 games on the season for the Cougars. He batted .380 on the season with nine home runs and 39 RBIs. He registered 10 stolen bases and crossed home plate 44 times.
John Cummings, Pitcher, 2nd Team
Cummings turned in a solid sophomore campaign. He finished the season with an overall record of 8-1. He tossed 50 innings and struck out 33 batters with an ERA of 3.06
Justin Acal, SS, 2nd Team
Acal put up monster numbers for the Cougars this season. He appeared in 48 games and hit .381 and knocked 10 homers out of the park. He tallied 51 RBIs, 46 runs, and 12 stolen bases.
Brendan Long, DH, Honorable Mention
Long earned the nickname Mr. Utility as he played three different positions for the Cougars. He hit .319 on the year and registered four homers. On the mound, he was a perfect 4-0 with an impressive 1.25 ERA.
The Season
The Cougars had a stellar and memorable 2022 season. They finished with an overall record of 42-7, including back-to-back appearances in the NJCAA D2 World Series. In addition, FCC earned a share of the MD JUCO Conference title with Harford Community College. Both teams finished conference play at 22-4. The Cougars put together winning streaks of 20 and 18 games throughout the season, respectively.
