Cougars Extend Win Streak to Nine Games
FCC Cougars baseball extends their win streak to nine games, sweeping Cecil College Seahawks 8-4 & 7-1.
Game 1:
The FCC Cougars took the lead in the bottom of the third inning, thanks to a double by Nick Keane that brought in two runs and a single by Christian Cabina that added another run. Keane was the Cougars' top performer for FCC, with three hits in four at-bats and two RBIs, closely followed by Nick Varda, who scored three runs and one RBI with his two hits in two at-bats.
Truitt Brinsfield started on the bump, giving up three hits and three runs over four innings, striking out six and walking four. Joey Serafin appeared in relief to pick up his fifth win on the season, giving up one run in three innings, striking out six and walking three. Cougars played flawless defense in the 8-4 victory.
Game 2:
Jake Crawford was dealing on the bump, as the righty rang up ten strikeouts in five innings, giving up one run on two hits and walking one. Matt Koeneke appeared in relief to pick up his first save on the season, giving up zero runs in two innings, striking out five and one hit. The Cougars scored all their runs in the first inning. Cam Jones collected three hits in three at-bats, two singles in the first inning, and a single in the fifth with two RBIs. Jake Holler hit a double to drive in two runs.
The Cougars record improves to 29-4 and 10-0 in the MDJUCO and 8-0 in DII Region 20. The Cougar turn their focus to their next game this Saturday, April 13, as they will host Westmoreland County Community College Wolfpack for a twin bill starting at 1 PM.
