Cougars Mount Multiple Comebacks to Sweep Wolfpack 11-8 and 8-4

Cougars Mount Multiple Comebacks to Sweep Wolfpack 11-8 and 8-4

Game 1:
The Cougars fell behind early in the first two innings against Westmoreland County Community College Wolfpack, trailing 8-2 entering the top of the third. That is where the FCC would flip the script and turn on the hitting. FCC would put up a nine-spot in the third inning, capped by a grand slam from Nick Varda. Nick Keane went three for four with a triple and two RBIs. Christian Cabina collected two hits in three at-bats with a double and an RBI.

Austin Dunlap pitched four innings, surrendering seven hits and two runs (zero earned) while striking out five and walking none.

Game 2:
Cesar Morales was electric on the mound, striking out 12 batters to help the Cougars close the door on the Wolfpack and complete the sweep 8-4. Morales pitched a complete 7-inning game; the right-handed pitcher allowed eight hits and four runs (two earned) while walking two. The Cougars would score two runs in the bottom half of the first but would trail 4-3 after three innings. FCC could tie the score up in the fourth inning and, after a few scoreless innings, score four runs in the sixth to take the lead. Jake Holler went three for four with two RBIs to lead the offense for FCC, followed by Bryce Curry and Christian Cabina, who each chipped in with two RBIs.

Next Up:
The nationally ranked Cougars extend their win streak to 11 games, flawless in April, and improve their record to 31-4 and 10-0 in DII Region 20. The Cougars have a quick turnaround before they turn their attention to their next home game on Sunday, April 14, as they will host the Chesapeake College Skipjacks for a twin bill starting at 1 p.m.
