Dominant Pitching and Timely Hits Propel Cougars Past Owens CC 3-1

Dominant Pitching and Timely Hits Propel Cougars Past Owens CC 3-1

In a tightly contested matchup on Friday, the Frederick Community College Cougars pitching was strong, overcoming Owens Community College with a score of 3-1 for the team's fourth win in a row. Luke Pietrandrea took the mound for the Cougars, delivering a commendable performance by recording 14 outs across four and two-thirds innings. The left-handed pitcher demonstrated impressive control, allowing just two hits and one run while striking out seven batters and walking three.

The Cougars opened the scoring in the top of the fourth inning thanks to a clutch single from Braydon Kelman. This timely hit set the stage for an explosive top of the sixth, where Shawn Karpaitis electrified the crowd with a solo inside-the-park home run, extending the Cougars' lead.

In relief, Adam Horst came in to throw two and one-third innings of shutout ball, striking out five and issuing one walk while allowing only one hit. His performance helped secure the Cougars' sixth victory of the season and maintain their strong defensive record, with the team not committing a single error throughout the game.

Offensively, Clayton Dorsey, Jacob Downey, Kelman, Karpaitis, Luis Perez, Hunter Lee, Josh Erd, and Andrew Varga each contributed a hit for FCC. Kelman, Karpaitis, and Perez each drove in a run, showcasing the depth of the Cougars' batting lineup. Kelman was also the standout on defense, recording an impressive 12 plays, solidifying his role as a key player for the team.
