Cougars Dominate Raptors in Doubleheader Sweep
Frederick Community College Cougars baseball continued its strong start to the season with a dominant sweep over Montgomery College, winning both games in shutout fashion. In Game 1, the Cougars controlled the tempo from the start, securing a 6-0 victory behind a stellar pitching performance from Luke Pietrandrea. The right-hander tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing just five hits while striking out three for his third win of the season. Offensively, Frederick struck early, scoring twice in the first inning thanks to a clutch double from Shawn Karpaitis. Cooper Harris drove in three runs, and the Cougars capitalized on Montgomery's defensive miscues to pull away.
Game 2 saw FCC's bats come alive in a 10-0 rout. William Gisriel stole the show, launching two home runs and driving in five runs to power the offense. Jacob Downey also went deep, while Casey Westerberg and Luis Perez Alfaro contributed with timely hits. On the mound, Ethan Duff and Adam Horst combined for a four-hit shutout, with Duff fanning seven batters over four dominant innings. The Cougars used a six-run fifth inning to end the game, taking advantage of Montgomery's struggles on the mound.
With the sweep, Frederick improves to 14-2 overall and 4-0 in Region 20 DII play. The team now turns its focus to another road test, a doubleheader against Anne Arundel Community College Riverhawks on Friday, March 14, starting at noon.
