FCC's Rodney Bennett Receives Regional ABCA Award
Frederick Community College Baseball Head Coach Rodney Bennett has received multiple Coach of the Year honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), and the veteran Cougars Coach was awarded the 2025 ABCA/ATEC NJCAA Regional Coach of the Year for NJCAA Division II on Tuesday, as the organization announced this week.
Bennett, one of 12 recipients of the Regional NJCAA Division II award, earned his 9th Regional Coach of the Year honor. Under his leadership, the Cougars reached the NJCAA Division II Baseball World Series for the seventh time this season. When asked about the key to a successful season, Coach Bennett replied, "Everything begins and ends with the players". They concluded the 2025 season with a 51-13 record, marking only the third time in program history they have won 50 or more games in a single season.
During 2025, the Cougars broke four team single-season records: home runs (74), runs batted in (491), stolen bases (140), and strikeouts (479). FCC also saw one player named NJCAA All-American. The team recorded two 10-game winning streaks and won their 9th Region 20 Tournament in 23 years. Overall, Rodney Bennett holds a coaching record of 861-322, with a winning percentage of .728.
