
Cougars Secure Regional Win Against CCBC Dundalk 82-80
In a nail-biting clash, the Frederick Community College Cougars men's basketball emerged triumphant with an 82-80 victory over CCBC Dundalk, a classic match-up that kept everyone on the edge of their seats until the final buzzer.
In the first half of the game, CCBC Dundalk Lions took an early lead, notching 40 points compared to Frederick Community College's 38. Undeterred, the Cougars rallied in the second half, outscoring the Lions 44-40.
Frederick Community College Cougars showcased four players reaching double figures. Justin Morrisey led the charge with a double-double, recording 24 points with 11 assists. Malik Witherspoon added 19 points to the scoreboard, while Mike Davis and Terrell Neal each contributed 12 points.
Both teams displayed strong shooting percentages, with FCC Cougars boasting an impressive 56.9% from the field and 54.5% from beyond the arc. CCBC Dundalk Lions also exhibited solid shooting, making 50.8% of their field goals and 40.6% of their three-point attempts. Free-throw shooting was efficient for both teams, with Frederick Community College Cougars converting 76.9% of their free throws and CCBC Dundalk Lions shooting 70.0% from the charity stripe.
Neal's final field goal and free-throw with two seconds left on the clock solidified the Cougars' third win in a row and seventh win on the season. More importantly, the Cougars improved 3-4 in Region 20 DII contests.
