Frederick Cougars Fall to Dragons Despite Strong Second Half
Frederick Community College Cougars men's basketball put up a fight in the second half but ultimately fell 69-57 to Howard Community College Dragons at home on Saturday. The Cougars struggled early, managing just 22 points in the first half while Howard controlled the tempo and took a 10-point lead into the break. Frederick found more rhythm in the second half, scoring 35 points and closing the gap, but Howard's steady free-throw shooting and balanced scoring kept the visitors in control.
Aiden Igwebe led Frederick with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Kylan Johnson added 11 points, including three three-pointers. Thierry Patchou contributed nine points and five rebounds, and Randolph Johnson finished with eight points. Despite a solid 80 percent shooting from the free throw line, turnovers and early shooting struggles proved costly for the Cougars.
With the loss, Frederick drops to 7-11 on the season and 3-8 in Region 20 DII play. The Cougars will look to bounce back at home against CCBC Catonsville on February 5 at 7:00 PM.
