
Andrews Tabbed To Lead Women's Soccer At FCC
Darren Andrews was named head women's soccer coach on October 1, 2021. He is a Frederick County native who has been involved in the soccer landscape of Frederick County for the last 25 years. He is a graduate of Frederick Community Collge with an Associates Degree in Business Administration.
In his soccer travels over the past 25 years, Andrews has been involved in almost every age group and level of soccer. He has spent many years as a head age group coach for the local club organization, FC Frederick. With FC Frederick, Andrews has served as head age group coach as well as head and assistant coach for individual teams. In his most recent assignments with the senior age band, he was the head coach for one team and the assistant coach for the other. Both teams were ranked as one of the Top 10 teams in the State of Maryland for their particular age group. Both teams also competed and excelled in the Maryland State Cup.
With his passion for youth soccer and with the support of FC Frederick, he has earned numerous United States Soccer Federation coaching licenses, as well as many United Soccer Coaches Diplomas.
Andrews has been fortunate enough to be involved with the area's professional women's soccer team known as The Washington Spirit. With the Spirit, Andrews coached in their "Super Y" summer league. Locally, he has organized and ran a number of summer soccer camps for the area's soccer youth and continues to play soccer in local adult leagues. Currently, he holds the title of Director for two of FC Frederick's in-house leagues designed for younger athletes. Most of his coaching experience has been with female athletes. He attributes this to raising two very bright and talented daughters both of whom, went on to play soccer at the collegiate level.
