In the final regular season game, the Frederick CC Cougars women's soccer team delivered a dominant 3-0 win on the road against the Garrett College Lakers. This victory guarantees their spot in the upcoming postseason, which kicks off on Saturday, October 21st.
Payton Troxell had her best performance of the year and led the Cougars offensively, notching two goals and cementing her status as the team's top goal scorer with five goals this season. Riley Russell also made her mark, scoring her first goal of the season. Morgan Marchesani recorded her second shutout of the season, denying all six shot attempts from the Lakers.
The Cougars head into the postseason as the sixth seed, setting up an exciting Quarterfinal clash with the third-seeded College of Southern MD Hawks in the NJCAA Region 20 DII Soccer Tournament with kick-off scheduled for 10:00 AM.
A win in this game would propel them to the Semi-Finals, where they will face the winner of the CCBC Essex vs. Garrett game at Howard Community College on Wednesday, October 25th at 3:00 PM. It's a "win and advance" scenario for the Cougars from here on out.
