PERFECTION! Baseball completes undefeated Region XX D2 play with sweep over Lakers

McHenry, Md. - The (RV) Frederick Community College baseball team finished Region XX D2 action undefeated with a sweep over the Lakers from Garrett College by the scores of 13-9 and 12-2 (5 innings). The Cougars finish their Region XX D2 schedule with a perfect record of 16-0. The last time the Cougars went undefeated in Region XX D2 was in 2010. FCC extends their winning streak to 11 games and sports an overall record of 32-13. With the sweep today, this makes it 13 straight seasons of 32 or more wins for the Cougars.

Game One

This was a good old marathon slugfest. FCC smacked out 15 hits in the win. A lot of damage was done at the top of the order. Jared Pine (4-for-5, 2B) and Hayden Kissel (3-for-5, 2B) combined for seven hits. Slugger Brady Harju (3-for-4, 3B) had three hits for the Cougars. Brandon Austin went deep for his fourth homer on the year. Harju knocked in four runs and teammate Thomas Gonzalez registered two RBIs.

FCC starting pitcher Keagan McGinnis lasted just three innings. He gave up six earned runs and allowed four free passes. Teagan Staver came out of the bullpen to pick up the win. He improves to 3-2 on the year. Staver tossed three innings and gave up just one earned run.

Game Two

Going, Going, Gone! FCC connected for three home runs in the victory. Hayden Kissel, Brady Harju and Eric Naylor each went deep in the win. Jared Pine, Kissel, and Naylor each had two hits. Kissel led with three RBIs while teammates Logan Appel, Josh Greenberg, Naylor, and Harju each knocked in a pair of runs.

James Beasley picked up the win on the hill. He tossed a complete game (5 innings) and fanned seven batters while allowing just one hit. Beasley improves to 4-1 on the year.

Up Next: FCC will travel to Chesapeake College on Friday (5/4/18) afternoon for a matchup with the Skipjacks. First pitch of the DH is set for 1:00 P.M.

Region XX D2 Tournament: With the perfect record in Region XX D2 contests, FCC locked-up the No. 1 seed of the upcoming Region XX D2 Final Four Tournament set for the weekend of May 11^th. The host site for this year's Region XX D2 Final Four will be at CCBC Catonsville.
