
#13 Cougars Dominate On Final Day of Spring Trip

DAVENPORT, FL – The 15-hour bus ride back to FCC will be a festive one for the #13-ranked Cougars as they took care of business on their annual spring trip. Winners of seven straight, FCC went 8-1, and is clicking on all cylinders early in the season. That is a good sign! The Cougars made it a clean sweep on Friday with a 5-1 victory over Cornell JV in game one. FCC put up two touchdowns in a 14-0 rout of Vermillion CC.
In game two, Aidan Masters led FCC to victory by driving in four runs. Masters went 3-for-4 at the dish.
The Cougars did major damage in the fifth inning putting up five runs. The rally was led by doubles from Klay Cottis and Masters, a walk by Aidan Greaney, and a sacrifice fly by Isaac Ferrer.
Dakota Smith toed the rubber for FCC vs Vermillion CC. Smith tosses five innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out seven and walking just one batter. Kade Breisblatt and Adam Watkins each pitched a scoreless inning to preserve the shutout. The trio combined for 11 punchouts.
The stat of the trip is this…In the eight wins, eight different pitchers picked up the victories.
The Cougars sprayed the ball over the field, pounding out 12 hits. Masters, Brendan Long, and Greaney each managed multiple hits in the win. Long was a perfect 2-for-2, knocking in three teammates.
Long is off to a hot start. He has nine hits on the season, including two long balls! He is batting a cool .500!

The home opener is set for March 9th as FCC will host Stevenson University JV for a pair. The first pitch is slated for noon!
