Winners of 19 straight, FCC Baseball off to best start in school history
OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Give FCC some butter because they are on a roll! The #8 Cougars defeated the Mustangs by the scores of 14-4 and 14-0! This is officially the best start in Cougar baseball history! WOW!
GAME 1
Frederick Community College Cougars Varsity ran off with the lead late in the game in a 14-4 victory over Stevenson University JV on Wednesday afternoon in game one of the DH. The game was tied at one with the Cougars batting in the top of the fourth when Wyatt Miles doubled on the first pitch, scoring one run.
The Cougars blew the game wide open in the fourth frame as they plated nine runs. Miles, David Antone, Spencer Rhoads, Aidan Masters, Justin Acal, and Brodey Neveker all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.
Ezekiel Gongola started on the hill for FCC. The hard-throwing righty continues his dominance on the mound. He tossed two perfect innings and struck out four of the six batters that he faced. Gongola is sporting an impressive 1.09 ERA on the season.
FCC socked one home run in the win as Justin Acal continues to rip the cover off the ball. Acal connected for his third home of the year.
The Cougars collected 14 hits in the lopsided win. Joshua Wilson, Rhoads, Acal, and Masters all had multiple hits for the Cougars. Wilson is heating up at the dish where he went 3-for-4 to lead the Cougars.
FCC lefty Nate Farmer (1-0) earns his first win of the season on the bump. The crafty lefty came out of the bullpen recording the final seven outs of the game. He struck out two batters and gave up just one hit.
GAME 2
FCC wasted little time lighting up the scoreboard. Justin Acal hit a solo shot for his fourth homer of the season. Wyatt Miles would connect on his own 3-run bomb as the Cougars scored four in the first frame. The hit parade continued in the third inning as FCC put up a 10-spot on the board thanks to an Aidan Greaney grand slam! He took advantage of his opportunity today going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBIs.
Joshua Wilson pitched in with a pair of hits in the win as the Cougars sprayed the field with 11 hits in the win. Teammate Wyatt Miles continues to swing a hot bat. The third baseman had a deep fly and a base knock, going 2-for-2 with three RBIs.
FCC starting pitcher Daniel Leo (3-0) remains perfect on the season as he picked up his third win. He tossed two innings, giving up just two hits while fanning a pair.
