
Cougars Walk Off in Nightcap to Earn Split with Harford
FREDERICK, MD. – The #8 FCC Cougars took the field on a sunny Tuesday afternoon for a doubleheader versus the Fighting Owls of Harford CC. The Fighting Owls (30-6, 16-4 MD JUCO took game one by the score of 10-1. In the nightcap, the Cougars put up a six-spot in the bottom of the seventh to earn the comeback win. Overall FCC sits at 25-5 (13-4 MD JUCO) on the season and returns to the diamond on Friday for a pair on the road at Garrett College. The first pitch is set to cross home plate at 1 PM.
In the opener, the Cougars were led by Demetri Jamison who went 3-for-4 at the dish. Teammates Brodey Neveker and Aidan Greaney chipped in with two hits each.
Aiden Fernandez toed the rubber for FCC and suffered the loss. He falls to 1-1 overall on the season.
In the second game, the Cougars trailed 8-3 heading into the bottom of the seventh. Just as he did on Saturday afternoon, Brodey Neveker came through in the clutch in the late innings. Neveker crushed a 3-run bomb to pull the Cougars within two runs. It was his fifth dinger of the year, and he is batting .369! FCC would plate two more runs to tie it up 8-8 with just one out. With the fans on their feet and the winning run at third, it was a high chopper hit by Demetri Jamison scoring Josh Wilson for the game-winner! WOW! What a finish!
The Cougars pounded out 14 hits in the win. Neveker has been on a tear all season and continues to mash the baseball. He went 3-for-4 in the win. Weston Roop was inserted at third base early in the game and did a nice job. Roop had a pair of hits and made some solid defensive plays on the field. Jamison and Josh Wilson added two hits each in the comeback victory.
Bryce Greene picked up the win in relief and improves to 2-1 on the season. A tip of the cap to the FCC bullpen! Aidan Baadte, Nate Farmer, Devon MacGregor, and Greene each pitched an inning and gave up no runs!
