Cougars Collapse to MC 8-2

Cougars Collapse to MC 8-2

The Frederick Community College Cougars fell to the Montgomery College Raptors 8-2 on Monday in Game Six of the NJCAA Region 20 DII Championship.

The Cougars managed to collect nine hits compared to the Raptors' eight, but it wasn't enough to secure a victory.

The game began with the Raptors taking an early lead in the first inning, courtesy of a double that brought in a run.

Frederick Community College's Bryce Curry, Nick Varda, and Christian Cabina each recorded two hits, highlighting the Cougars' offensive efforts. Brody Lindsey and Curry each drove in a run.

On the mound, Zac Rose started for the Cougars, pitching two and two-thirds innings. He allowed four hits and five runs while striking out four and walking two. Adam Horst took over in relief, delivering an impressive performance with five innings of one-hit, scoreless pitching. He struck out four and walked one, keeping the Cougars within reach.

Montgomery College's starting pitcher allowed four hits and two runs over four innings, striking out five and walking four, effectively stifling the Cougars' offense.

Despite the loss, the Cougars remain in the competition due to the double-elimination format. The stage is set for a thrilling game seven, where the NJCAA Region 20 DII Champion will be decided.
