The Cougars conceded just 79 seconds into the match when Marvin Brown scored for the Hawks, but they showed grit and composure to work their way back into the contest. FCC’s pressure finally paid off late in the first half when Praise Ngoma struck a penalty kick equalizer in the 40th minute, sending the teams into halftime level at 1-1.

After conceding an early goal in the seventh minute, the Cougars didn’t fall flat and fought their way back into the match. Their effort paid off just before halftime when Samuel Mendez hit a rocket from 25 years deep that found the back of the net off an assist from Jason Shairzad, leveling the score at 1-1 and giving the home team a spark of energy.

Twenty-Seven Cougars Student-Athletes Received NJCAA All-Academic Honors

The NJCAA has announced the 2024-25 All-Academic Teams, recognizing student-athletes nationwide for their academic excellence and dedication in the classroom. A total of 13,915 student-athletes have been honored for achieving a GPA above 3.60. Twenty-seven Frederick Community College scholar-athletes received NJCAA All-Academic honors for posting an overall GPA of 3.60 or higher for the 2024-25 academic year. This is more than double the number of All-Academic honors received the previous year.
